Happy Sunday Self-Leader,
The holiday is over, the festivities are done, and today, like me, you might feel the reality sinking in: work resumes tomorrow. If you’re feeling a sense of dread, anxiety, or even sadness, know that you’re not alone. The transition from the warmth of the holidays to the demands of work can feel heavy, especially if last year left you exhausted or uncertain about your career path.
But here’s what I want you to hold onto: you survived last year. Every challenge, every tough decision, every moment of doubt—you came through it. And now, 2025 presents a new opportunity.
This year, let’s move from surviving to thriving.
What does thriving look like for you? It doesn’t mean perfection or having everything figured out. It means feeling more fulfilled, more energized, and more aligned with what truly matters. Here’s how to start:
1. Breathe, Then Decide How You Want to Feel
Take a moment right now—yes, right now—to pause and breathe. Ask yourself: How do I want to feel in my work and career this year? Write it down. Your answer is your anchor. It will guide you, especially on the hard days.
2. Let Last Year Teach You, Not Define You
Every challenge you overcame last year strengthened you. Reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what you’ve learned. Let those lessons guide you forward, but don’t let last year’s setbacks dictate your 2025.
3. Set the Tone with One Simple Intention
Forget rigid resolutions. Instead, choose one word or phrase to guide you. Maybe it’s ease, focus, courage, or expansion. Use it as a compass for how you want to feel and what you want to prioritize this year.
4. Awareness: What Drains You vs. What Energizes You
Take note of the people, tasks, and situations that deplete your energy, as well as the ones that recharge and excite you. While you may not control everything, simply being aware allows you to navigate these dynamics more intentionally. How can you lean into what fills you up while managing or minimizing the drains? This awareness will help you thrive, even on the tough days.
5. Take Control of Your Narrative
Remember, thriving isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, staying aware, and making choices that move you closer to the fulfillment you deserve. You’ve survived before—you’ve got everything you need to thrive this year.
This is your year. Let’s go.
To thriving in 2025,
awesome
